Cross the island from side to side at the rhythm of its music and its colours. From La Havana to the green Viñales, capital of tobacco; then the elegant Cienfuegos will lead you to the lively Trinidad, a city unique in its kind; you’ll visit Valle de los Ingenios, source of wealth and richness during the colonial period, and will arrive in Sancti Spiritu. Stopping by Camaguey, the city of the “tinajones”, you’ll finally enter “el oriente de Cuba” and reach its capital, the charming Santiago. From there, you’ll get to the extremity of the island, to the ancient Baracoa, the first city established by Diego Velazquez , and through its forests you’ll began to go back to enjoy, along the way, one day in Cayo Saetia, a true pearl of the Caribbean Sea, sleeping in Mayarì, a nice, little village at the feet of Sierra de Cristal. Then a couple of relaxing days in Playa Santa Lucia , where playa Los Cocos offers a spectacular view of a flamingo colony. From here to the colonial city of Remedios and to the iconic city of the Cuban Revolucion, Santa Clara, from where you’ll to get back to La Havana .

Day 1 - L’Havana

Arrival in Cuba. You will be received in Havana airport .Accommodation in your house in the old city centre, Havana Vieja. Free dinner.

Day 2 - L’Havana

Breakfast. At 9:00 am your tour guide (English speaking) will meet you at your house and show you around Havana Vieja. Free afternoon and dinner  (1).

L’Havana

Day 3 - L’Havana

Breakfast. At 9:00 am guided  city tour by bus to visit the other neighbourhoods of  La Havana (about 2 hours). Free afternoon and dinner  .(1)

Viñales

Day 4 - Viñales

Breakfast. At 8:30 departure to Viñales , passing and stopping at Las Terrazas, in Sierra del Rosario, where you can visit the ancient French coffe farms, Las Terrazas’ community and Hotel Moka, the first eco-hotel in Cuba designed by Camilo Cienfuegos’ brother. Then you will stop at Baños de San Juan, a river in the middle of the forest where you can swim and have a typical “criollo” lunch.* Arrival in Viñales and accommodation in the house. Dinner at the house.

*Entrance fee to Las Terrazas, lunch at Baños de San Juan included: 10 CUC, to be paid on the site.

Viñales is situated in the very heart of the Parque Nacional de Viñales, UNESCO World Heritage, main centre of Cuban tobacco production, the best in the world. Viñales farmers, the “campesinos”, will tell you about the history of those precious leaves and show you the art of rolling a cigar, which will be offered to you with some coffee of their own production.
Not to be missed: a horse-ride in the Valley

Day 5 - Viñales

Breakfast. At 9:00 am your driver will pick you up and show around the wonders of Valle de Viñales, Cueva del Indio and Mural de la Preistoria. If you are fond of speleology or just a little bit athletic, you could go into Cueva de Santo Tomas, the longest caves of Latin America: 45 km on 7 levels (tour with guide of 2 levels, 10 CUC to be paid on site). Or you could book an excursion with Emma, biologist and co-founder of Parque Nacional de Viñales, to dive into the history and the traditions of this land and its farmers. Dinner at the house

Trinidad

Day 6 - Trinidad

Breakfast. At 8:30 am departure to Trinidad , with a stop in Cienfuegos to visit the city. Arrival in Trinidad and accommodation in your house. Dinner at the house. (1)

Trinidad, the colonial city with the Latin America’s biggest and best preserved “casco historico”, will capture you with its ancient architecture, wonderful palaces and incredible "movida". Music in the streets and in many bars from dawn ‘til dusk: the real “sabor a Cuba”, the cuban atmosphere that everybody dreams about when thinking of Cuba. The friendliness of its citizens and an unspoiled coast (Peninsula de Ancon) complete the picture of the perfect place to breathe the real Cuba. As a traditional song says, Trinidad is close to the sea and to the mountains too.
Not to be missed : the excursions in Topes de Collantes, at the Guanayara waterfall, and Playa Maria Aguilar, en Peninsula de Ancon.

Trinidad

Days 7-8 - Trinidad

Breakfast. Free days to enjoy Trinidad, either getting around the city or at the seaside. One dinner at the house, one free (1).

Camaguey

Breakfast. At 8.30 am departure to Camaguey, passing through Valle de Los Ingenios (stop by Manaca Iznaga) and Sancti Spiritu. After about 3 hours from Sancti Spiritu, you’ll arrive in Camaguey. Accommodation and dinner in your house.

Santiago

Day 10 - Santiago

Breakfast. At 8:00 am departure to Santiago, where you’ll arrive around midday. Accommodation in your house. Free afternoon to stroll around and enjoy the beautiful city, called “ la cuna del son”, starting point of the Cuban Revolution . We would recommend to visit the Cuartel Moncada Museum*. Dinner in the house.
* Except on Monday, closing day of Cuban museums.

Santiago

Day 11 -Santiago

Breakfast. At 9 a.m. your driver will take you to the Virgen del Cobre Santuary, the Cuba patron saint, and to the majestic Morro Fortification. Free afternoon . Free dinner . (1).

Baracoa

Day 12 - Baracoa

Breakfast. At 8.00 am departure to Baracoa, where you will early in the afternoon. On your way there, driving up to Paso de la Farola, you will admire an amazingly unusual landscape transforming under your eyes, until you’ll reach Baracoa, characterized by a microclimate that is unique in the whole island. Accommodation and dinner in your Baracoa house.

Baracoa, “the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen”: this is how Christopher Colombus described it when he touched the first strip of Cuban land. The first established city in Cuba still carries within itself the legacy of the native populations. Its name in Tainos language means “surrounded by waters”. Baracoa is surrounded by the sea and it is crossed by more than 20 rivers, among which are Rio Duaba , Toa and Yumurì, that offer fresh water in the immense coconut and cocoa palm forests surrounding the city.
Not to be missed: a relaxing plunge into the Duaba river, a sacred river.

Baracoa

Days 13-14 - Baracoa

Breakfast. At 9:00 a.m. a local driver will pick you up to discover the fascinating surroundings of Baracoa. One dinner at the house and one free.

Cayo Saetia

Day 15 - Mayari

Breakfast. At 8:00 departure to Cayo Saetia . Passing through the Baracoa forest and Moa (nickel mine zone), you’ll get to Cayo Saetia. Entrance fee: 10 CUC to be paid on site. Possibility of lunch at the restaurant/bar on the beach. In the evening transfer to Mayarì*. Dinner at the house.

*As an alternative you could sleep in the simple, but cosy hotel of Cayo Saetia. In this case, no entrance fee is due. .

Playa Santa Lucia

Days 16-17 - Playa Santa Lucia

Breakfast. At 8.30 departure to Playa S.Lucia, where you’ll spend two fantastic days at the seaside. Dinners in the house.

Tip: Plunge into the green-blue waters of Playa Santa Lucia and eat an “almuerzo “ in one of the “ranchones” on Playa Los Cocos, at the end of S. Lucia beach. On an unpaved but well maintained road, beyond a small group of houses , you’ll discover a beautifult beach on your right and a lagoon, home of pink flamingos, on your left.

Remedios

Day 18 - Remedios

Breakfast. At 8:30 to Remedios, one of the seven first cities founded by Diego Velazquez. Visit the ancient Cathedral in the main square, it contains a rare statue of the Holy Virgin embarrassed. Accommodation and dinner in the house.

Havana

Day 20 - Havana Airport

Breakfast. A taxi will bring you to the Airport . Time according on your flight schedule.

*Instead of the airport, your point of release can be your hotel in Varadero or in a Cayo.

Note: 1) For your free dinners, as well as to enjoy at the utmost your time in each city, we will provide you with an information sheet with advices on restaurants, places to listen to music and have fun, local transportation etc. A sort of Cuban "vademecum", result of our experience on the site.
